Wittenborg Welcomes Summer with Hawaiian-Themed Party
Event Held at Old Irish Pub Features Music, Dance, Drinks and Lively Atmosphere
Nearly 200 students and staff members welcomed in the warmest season of the year at Wittenborg’s Summer Jam on the evening of 7 June. The event took place at the Old Irish Pub in Apeldoorn and was themed as a Hawaiian Party. It featured authentic Hawaiian decorations and music, alongside other genres, played by a live DJ. Participants also enjoyed a variety of snacks, typical Dutch finger foods, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
According to External Relations & Events Manager Sophia Faraji, the Summer Jam stood out for its lively atmosphere, with students and staff dancing and having fun together. “The energy on the dance floor was contagious, creating a sense of unity and joy. The outcome of the party was very positive, since it provided an excellent opportunity for students and staff to unwind and enjoy themselves as they transitioned into the holiday season, fostering a sense of community and celebration,” she commented.
Bachelor’s student Matin Rouhipourfard, specialising in Tourism Management, pointed out that events like this enable students to socialise and get closer with their peers at school, while also connecting with the Apeldoorn community. “It's an 'ice-breaker' that can help anyone to feel included and welcome. I strongly recommend that current and future students keep attending these events because they give you the chance to have an amazing time and make new friends.”
Wittenborg Financial Administrator Amal Orm described the Summer Jam as a memorable experience. “I really enjoyed dancing and interacting with friends and colleagues, because this helps us create an even stronger bond outside of the institution. We should cherish these moments because they are what beautiful memories are made of.”
The Summer Jam is organised annually by Wittenborg's Events Committee to mark the beginning of summer and the nearing end of the last study block of the academic year.
