It’s Looking a Lot Like Spring: Discover April’s Top Attractions in Apeldoorn

Events Include Beer Festivals, Music Concerts, Free Art Performances and More

Spring is finally here, and as the weather gradually warms, more and more activities start popping up in Apeldoorn. If you're looking for things to do in April, here are some of the month’s most exciting attractions.

Enjoy a cold beer

On 1 April, local brewery Puik Bieren (Beekstraat 10) will celebrate its 10th anniversary. To mark the occasion, their entire collection of beers - nearly 50 varieties - will be available for tasting on Saturday, 5 April, starting at 15:00. With free admission, the event will feature music by DJ Leon Puike Vinyl from 18:00.

Also on 5 April, from 15:00 to 22:00, Caterplein square will open the terrace season with the Spring Beer Festival (‘Lentebierfestival’), featuring a wide range of spring beers, delicious snacks and live music.

Culture at your neighbour’s

How about experiencing the art created by Apeldoorn’s residents? Every year, Culture at Your Neighbour’s (‘Cultuur bij je buur’) offers free performances by amateur and professional artists in homes, gardens, neighbourhoods and community spaces. Expect music, theatre, visual art, storytelling and more. This year’s events take place on 12 April, and the full programme is available here.

Music for all tastes

Held annually on a Saturday in April, the international event Record Store Day aims to celebrate the culture of independently owned record stores. In Apeldoorn, the event will take place at Mansion24 (Leienplein 5-9) on 12 April, starting at 12:00. The programme will feature performances in various styles, including rap, electronic music, rock, folk and pop.

Fans of jazz classics, vintage music and other styles can enjoy a free concert by Big Band Apeldoorn on 13 April, from 14:30 to 16:30, at De Babbel (Hoofdstraat 190). It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy some cheerful tunes while sipping a drink.

Prince’s Night and King’s Day

To celebrate a major national holiday in the Netherlands, Apeldoorn will host a series of events from the evening of 25 April (Prince's Night) to 26 April (King's Day, or ‘Koningsdag’). The city will be teeming with concerts, dance parties and food and drink options at various locations. Check the full programme here.

The love that remains

or an ongoing series of exhibitions, CODA (Vosselmanstraat 299) invites artists and writers to curate a show from the museum’s collection, selecting objects based on their own insights and inspirations. To create the exhibition ‘The love that remains’, Amsterdam-born artist Sioe Jeng Tsao has selected items from CODA’s extensive jewellery collection, as well as personal belongings, featuring objects from China, West Africa and Java, among other locations. Tsao’s work explores themes such as identity, heritage, intersectionality, community-building and resilience. The exhibition is open for visits until 1 June. For tickets and more information, visit CODA’s website.
